Subsidies Available to Durham, NC Homeowners Building ADUs for Veterans; Accompanying Focus Group Report
DURHAM, North Carolina - As a way to better understand the barriers that exist to the more widespread use of backyard space for new affordable housing in the form of accessory dwelling units (ADUs), a new Durham-based turnkey backyard home builder, BSIDE Homes, obtained a grant from Volunteers of America to do a series of focus group conversations and partner with Durham homeowners by subsidizing the construction of six ADUs for veterans.
