NEWS RELEASE: DURHAM, North Carolina - As a way to better understand the barriers that exist to the more widespread use of backyard space for new affordable housing in the form of accessory dwelling units (ADUs), a new Durham-based turnkey backyard home builder, BSIDE Homes, obtained a grant from Volunteers of America to do a series of focus group conversations and partner with Durham homeowners by subsidizing the construction of six ADUs for veterans.

As part of exploring the barriers that exist to the widespread use of backyards as sites for new affordable housing, a pre-engineered accessory dwelling unit company, BSIDE Homes did a series of focus group conversations in neighborhoods throughout Durham, NC.
